OKSANA KAZMINA: CONTEMPORARY HISTORY OF UKRAINE
Aurora Picture Show – 5601A Navigation Blvd.
Co-presented by Aurora Picture Show and Basket Books & Art
$10 / Free for Aurora Members (Ticket link coming soon)

Aurora and Basket Books & Art co-present an interactive performance-lecture, Contemporary History of Ukraine (CHU), by Ukrainian artist Oksana Kazmina. Through live montage, Kazmina presents a mosaic of her personal archives, including behind-the-scenes footage from Kyiv’s underground art and music culture of the past decade, film expeditions to Eastern Ukraine with cine-movement NGO “Freefilmers,” Google Maps, microscopic imaging of Kazmina’s biome and other audiovisual materials. These intimate and evocative documents offer a layered perspective on war, history, and the relationship between the body and territory. The event concludes with a reception and a hands-on silk-screening session with the artist (bring your clothes!). Intended for mature audiences only.
