Janaye Brown: That Place In Time

Saturday, November 7, 2026 (7pm)
JANAYE BROWN: THAT PLACE IN TIME
$10 / Free for Aurora members

Aurora presents a selection of short video works created over the last two decades by Berlin-based artist Janaye Brown. In these works, the sensory experience of time in everyday life is isolated through static long shots, poetic text, atmospheric sound, and slow gestures–both natural and mechanical. Restrained pace and obscured narratives simultaneously create anticipation and contemplation. The program includes the premiere of Brown’s new work Rosewood, a reflection on the contrasting local histories of two burial grounds on Galveston Island. The screening will be followed by a conversation between the artist and Aurora’s Sarah Stauder.

Residencies include the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Madison, ME; Ballroom Marfa, Marfa, TX; Galveston Artist Residency, Galveston, TX and Fiskars AiR, Finland among others.
